Overview

A simple adapter power source (Omoda only)

This V2L (Vehicle to Load, sometimes called Vehicle to Device or V2D) cable turns your Omoda E5 into a mobile power source for household appliances. Plug it into the car's Type 2 charge port, select the discharge option on the infotainment display, and you have a working socket wherever the car is parked. Genuinely useful for powering camping equipment miles from the nearest hook-up.

You can connect up to 3.3kW of load, depending on the car model.

One important warning. A vehicle-to-load cable must never be connected to any other electrical system, because there is no voltage or phase synchronisation between the two. Ignoring this will void your vehicle warranty and has the potential to cause serious damage to both the connected system and the car.

Cable information

  • 16A, 3G1.5, 10.5mm diameter
  • IP44 rated

What IP44 means in practice. The cable will operate in dusty conditions and will resist splashes of water while mated to the car. The connection is not fully water sealed, though, so the cable must never be submerged.

Looking after it

  • Keep the cable out of puddles. Stored outside is fine, sitting in standing water is not.
  • Fit the rubber dust cover whenever the cable is not in use, so debris cannot collect in the connector.
  • Moisture is far and away the most common problem we see. It corrodes the pins, and pin corrosion is not covered by our warranty.

What about using it in the rain? Water can still get into the plug and the charging socket during the moments you are inserting or removing it. As soon as the charge port is open or the cable is unplugged, rain lands on the pins and stays there until the next time you connect. Wipe them, cap them, and the problem largely goes away. Features

  • A working socket wherever the car is parked

Plug into the Omoda E5 Type 2 charge port, select the discharge option on the infotainment display, and the battery becomes a mobile power source for household appliances.

  • Up to 3.3kW of load

Depending on the car model. Genuinely useful for powering camping equipment miles from the nearest hook-up.

  • Six outlet options

UK 1 Gang and 2 Gang, CEE 1P 16A, Schuko, and waterproof 1 Gang and 2 Gang, so the cable matches whatever you are plugging in.

  • Five lengths, 0.5m to 15m

Short leads keep the connection tidy at the charge port, longer ones reach across a pitch or a garden.

  • 16A cable, IP44 rated

3G1.5 conductor at 10.5mm diameter. It works in dusty conditions and resists splashes while mated, but the connection is not sealed and must never be submerged.

Installation

  1. 01Park up and leave the car in the mode its handbook specifies for discharge.
  2. 02Plug the connector into the car's charge port until the latch clicks.
  3. 03Enable discharge on the car - the infotainment menu or the button on the connector, depending on the model. See Specifications for this one.
  4. 04Check the socket is live before you plug anything in, and keep the outlet end dry and off the ground.

FAQs

Is this cable Omoda specific?
Yes. It is made for the Omoda E5 and will not work on other makes.
How do I switch the power on?
Plug the cable into the car's Type 2 charge port, then select the discharge option on the infotainment display. The car has to support V2L for the option to appear.
What kind of load can it handle?
Up to 3.3kW depending on the car model. Camping equipment, tools and household appliances within that ceiling all run happily. Anything hungrier will not.
Can I connect it to my home electrics?
Never. A vehicle-to-load cable must not be connected to any other electrical system, because there is no voltage or phase synchronisation between the two. Ignoring this voids your vehicle warranty and has the potential to cause serious damage to both the connected system and the car.
Which outlet type should I choose?
UK 1 Gang or 2 Gang suits ordinary British plugs. Schuko is for European appliances, CEE 1P 16A for site and caravan kit, and the waterproof gang options are the sensible pick if the socket end will be sitting outdoors.
How should I store it?
Keep it out of puddles. Stored outside is fine, sitting in standing water is not. Fit the rubber dust cover whenever the cable is not in use so debris cannot collect in the connector. Moisture is the most common problem we see, and pin corrosion is not covered by our warranty.

What customers say about us

  • First class service

First class service. Ordered 15m cable and it was delivered next day. Minor hiccup in that the accompanying bag was missing. Quick email to Jake at EV Cable Hub and the bag arrived next working day. 1st class product and even better customer service. Thank you.
