NIO EV Charging Cables
Type 2 charging cables for the NIO range.
Which NIO?
We'll preselect the variant that fits.
Choosing the right cable for your NIO
NIO is known for battery swapping, and that reputation shapes what buyers expect. In Britain it is the wrong expectation: there is no swap network here, so a NIO is charged by plugging it in like any other electric car. That makes the cable more central to ownership, not less.
Connector spec by model
- ET5 / ET5 Touring: Type 2 + CCS. Up to 11kW AC. 75kWh or 100kWh battery.
- EL6 / EL7: Type 2 + CCS. Up to 11kW AC.
- ET7: Type 2 + CCS. Up to 11kW AC. 100kWh.
No swap stations means no shortcut
Where a swap network exists, owners can treat the battery as someone else's problem. Without one, the car depends entirely on charging, and a 100kWh pack on a British single-phase supply at 7.4kW is around fourteen hours from empty. That is a car to plug in every night rather than occasionally.
Buy a good cable, not a cheap one
On a car that lives on its charging lead, build quality earns its money. IP55 sealing and run-over proof construction matter when the cable is used daily in British weather rather than a few times a month.
Three-phase is worth considering here
An 11kW onboard charger on a 100kWh battery is one of the cases where a three-phase supply genuinely changes the routine, cutting a full charge to around ten hours. It still needs three-phase at the property, which most homes do not have.
Length recommendations
These are large saloons and SUVs. 10m minimum, 15m on a longer driveway. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.
