Vauxhall EV Charging Cables

Vauxhall EV charging cables compatible with current and recent Vauxhall electric vehicles. All current UK Vauxhall EVs use the universal Type 2 (Mode 3) connector — same cable as nearly every modern EV sold in the UK. Older Vauxhall models may use Type 1; check your charge port shape before ordering. We stock 5m to 30m lengths in 7kW and 22kW ratings, with optional Mode 2 (3-pin granny) cables for emergency charging.

Vauxhall's electric range covers the Corsa Electric, Mokka Electric, Astra Electric, Grandland Electric, Frontera Electric and the Combo / Vivaro / Movano Electric vans. Built on Stellantis's e-CMP and STLA platforms, all use Type 2 AC + CCS DC. The pre-2024 Corsa-e was capped at 7.4kW AC; the 2024+ refresh brought 11kW.

Connector spec by model

  • Corsa Electric (2020-2023, "Corsa-e") — Type 2 + CCS. 7.4kW AC. 100kW DC peak.
  • Corsa Electric (2024+ refresh) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 100kW DC.
  • Mokka Electric (2021+) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 100kW DC.
  • Astra Electric (2023+) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 100kW DC.
  • Grandland Electric (2024+) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC.
  • Frontera Electric (2024+) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC.
  • Combo / Vivaro / Movano Electric — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. Commercial vans.
  • Ampera (PHEV, 2012-2015) — Type 1, 3.6kW AC. Legacy.

The Corsa-e 7.4kW vs 11kW split

If you have a 2020-2023 Corsa-e, you cap at 7.4kW AC (32A single-phase). A 7.4kW cable is the right pairing. 11kW or 22kW cables work but throttle. The 2024+ refresh brought 11kW — owners of those models can use 11kW cables on three-phase supply for materially faster charging.

AC charging speed at home

  • Pre-2024 Corsa-e at 7.4kW: ~25-30 miles/hour. 50kWh battery overnight in 7 hours.
  • 2024+ Corsa Electric at 11kW (three-phase): ~45 miles/hour. Same battery in 4 hours.
  • Other models at 11kW (three-phase): ~45 miles/hour. 60kWh battery in ~5 hours.

Length recommendations

Vauxhall charge ports vary by model — typically rear-right on the cars, rear-left on the vans. UK driveways: 7.5m or 10m Type 2 cable covers most layouts. Vans (Combo, Vivaro, Movano) often need longer cables (10-15m) due to vehicle length and parking-bay depth.

Ampera (PHEV) — Type 1 legacy

The Vauxhall Ampera (2012-2015) — UK rebadge of the Chevy Volt — was a Type 1 PHEV. If you still have one running, you need Type 1 cables. Modern Type 2 cables won't fit.

Smart-tariff integration

Vauxhall MyVauxhall app handles basic scheduling. For Octopus Intelligent integration, pair with Ohme; for solar-PV pair with MyEnergi Zappi.

What we stock for Vauxhall

  • Type 2 cables in 5-30m, 7.4kW and 11kW ratings.
  • 3-pin granny chargers for backup / holiday-let / van depot use.
  • Replacement tethered cables for damaged wallbox tethers.
  • Type 1 cables for legacy Ampera owners.

Commercial van considerations

Vauxhall electric vans (Combo, Vivaro, Movano) often charge at depot rather than home. For depot install see our fleet charger range. For driver-take-home use, a typical home wallbox works — confirm the van fits the parking spot and the cable length covers the parking-to-charge-port distance (vans are longer than cars).

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Every current UK Vauxhall EV uses Type 2 (Mode 3). Older Vauxhall hybrids or pre-2018 EVs may use Type 1 — check your charge port: hexagonal 7-pin = Type 2, square 5-pin = Type 1.
10m suits most UK home setups. 5m if your wallbox is right next to where you park. 15-25m for awkward driveway layouts.
Match to your wallbox. UK home wallboxes are mostly 7kW (32A single-phase). 22kW only relevant if you have a three-phase supply.
Yes — see our granny chargers range. Mode 2 portable cables work with all current Vauxhall EVs.
