Mini EV Charging Cables

Mini EV charging cables compatible with current and recent Mini electric vehicles. All current UK Mini EVs use the universal Type 2 (Mode 3) connector — same cable as nearly every modern EV sold in the UK. Older Mini models may use Type 1; check your charge port shape before ordering. We stock 5m to 30m lengths in 7kW and 22kW ratings, with optional Mode 2 (3-pin granny) cables for emergency charging.

Mini's electric range — the new Cooper Electric (J01), Cooper SE (F56, discontinued), Aceman and Countryman Electric — uses Type 2 AC + CCS DC universally. Mini sits squarely in the BMW Group ecosystem, sharing platforms with BMW i-models. Compatibility is straightforward; the disambiguation is "Mini" the brand vs "mini" the size descriptor in product listings.

Connector spec by model

  • Cooper Electric (J01, 2024+) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 95kW DC peak.
  • Cooper SE (F56, 2020-2023) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 50kW DC peak.
  • Aceman (2024+) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 95kW DC.
  • Countryman Electric (U25, 2024+) — Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 130kW DC.

AC charging speed at home

Every Mini EV caps at 11kW AC — same as BMW. So:

  • 11kW three-phase: ~45 miles/hour. 50kWh battery (Cooper Electric) refills 10-100% in ~4 hours.
  • 7.4kW single-phase: ~25-30 miles/hour. Same battery overnight in 6 hours.

Length recommendations

Mini charge ports are at the rear-right on the new J01 Cooper Electric, Aceman and Countryman. F56 Cooper SE was rear-right too. UK driveways: 5m for tight layouts, 7.5m or 10m for typical setups. The shorter cable lengths suit Mini's small footprint — you rarely need more than 7.5m.

Smart-tariff integration

BMW/Mini's Connected app handles basic scheduling. For Octopus Intelligent or similar dynamic tariffs, pair with a smart wallbox — Ohme for the deepest dynamic-pricing integration; MyEnergi Zappi for solar-PV homes; Hypervolt for design + tariff balance.

What we stock for Mini

"Mini" naming disambiguation

This page is for Mini the BMW-owned car brand. If you've searched for "mini" because you're looking for a small or compact charger, see granny chargers (the smallest Mode 2 portable units) or EO Mini Pro 3 (the smallest UK home wallbox by footprint, despite being a different brand).

10m suits most UK home setups. 5m if your wallbox is right next to where you park. 15-25m for awkward driveway layouts.
Match to your wallbox. UK home wallboxes are mostly 7kW (32A single-phase). 22kW only relevant if you have a three-phase supply.
