Choosing the right cable for your Suzuki

Suzuki has two plug-in cars in Britain and they come from different places entirely. The e Vitara is Suzuki's own first electric car. The Across is a rebadged Toyota, which is useful to know because everything about how it charges follows Toyota's engineering rather than Suzuki's.

Connector spec by model

  • e Vitara (2025+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 49kWh or 61kWh battery.
  • Across Plug-in Hybrid: Type 2. 6.6kW AC. 18.1kWh. A rebadged Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid.
  • Swace, Vitara Full Hybrid, S-Cross Full Hybrid: self-charging hybrids with no plug.

The Across is a RAV4 underneath

If you are searching for advice on charging an Across and finding nothing, look up the Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid instead. Same car, same 18.1kWh battery, same 6.6kW onboard charger, same Type 2 socket. Any cable that suits one suits the other.

Most Suzuki hybrids do not plug in at all

The Vitara and S-Cross full hybrids, and the Swace, charge their own batteries from the engine and brakes. They have no charge port. This matters because Suzuki sells far more of those than it does plug-ins, and the word "hybrid" on the badge is doing a lot of work.

First electric car, first cable

Most e Vitara buyers are charging a car for the first time. The lead that came with it is likely a 3-pin granny charger, which is a backup rather than a daily charger. The cable you will actually use is Type 2 at both ends, and a 32amp single-phase version suits the car and whatever you buy next.
