Genesis EV Charging Cables

Four cables for Genesis, a newer name on UK roads but a straightforward one to charge: Type 2 for AC, the same as the rest of the market.

Genesis is known for quick DC rapid charging, but that is handled by the tethered cable attached to the rapid unit, so it is not something you buy a lead for. What you are buying here is the AC side, meaning your home wallbox and destination charging. On a standard domestic single-phase supply that means up to 7.4kW. 2 year warranty on every lead.

Which Genesis?

We'll preselect the variant that fits.

We read your charge port, max AC rate and phase from DVLA data, then take you to the exact variant.

Choosing the right cable for your Genesis

Genesis sits on Hyundai's E-GMP platform, which means its electric cars inherit two things worth knowing: an 800-volt architecture built for very fast DC charging, and vehicle-to-load, which most premium brands still do not offer.

Vehicle-to-load is standard across the electric range

Every Genesis EV can supply mains power from its own battery, enough to run tools, a fridge or lighting. That needs a V2L discharge cable rather than a charging lead, and the one we stock covers Genesis, Hyundai and Kia together because all three share the E-GMP arrangement. See our V2L adapter range.

Connector spec by model

  • GV60 (2022+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 77.4kWh. 350kW DC. V2L 3.6kW.
  • GV70 Electric (2022+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 77.4kWh. V2L 3.6kW.
  • G80 Electric (2021+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 87.2kWh. V2L 3.6kW.

The 800-volt system is about DC, not your cable

Genesis headlines a ten to eighty per cent charge in about eighteen minutes. That comes from a 350kW DC rapid charger with its own tethered cable, and it has nothing to do with what you buy here. AC charging at home is a separate and much more ordinary system, capped at 11kW by the onboard charger.

What that means at home

On a British single-phase supply the car draws 7.4kW, so 77.4kWh is around eleven hours from empty. The 32amp single-phase lead is the everyday cable. Three-phase would let the car reach its 11kW ceiling and bring that closer to seven and a half hours, which is worth having if the property supports it.

Length recommendations

Genesis charge ports sit on the rear wing. These are large cars, so 10m is the sensible default and 15m is not excessive on a longer driveway. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

What we stock for Genesis

  • Type 2 to Type 2 cables from 5m to 20m, 3.6kW to 22kW.
  • A V2L discharge cable covering Genesis, Hyundai and Kia.

Questions

Does my Genesis support vehicle-to-load?
Yes. Every Genesis EV can supply mains power from the battery at up to 3.6kW. That needs a V2L discharge cable, and ours covers Genesis, Hyundai and Kia.
What cable does a GV60 need?
A Type 2 lead. The 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the everyday one on a British home supply.
The car charges in eighteen minutes, why is home charging so slow?
The fast figure comes from a 350kW DC rapid charger with its own tethered cable. AC charging at home runs through the onboard charger, which caps at 11kW.
Is the three-phase cable worth it?
If your property has three-phase power, yes. It takes a full charge from around eleven hours to about seven and a half.
Will a Hyundai or Kia cable fit?
Yes. All three share the E-GMP platform and the same Type 2 arrangement.
