Choosing the right cable for your Lamborghini

Lamborghini's two plug-in hybrids sit at opposite ends of the same technology. One has a battery small enough to be an afterthought; the other has enough for a usable electric commute. They take the same connector but not the same advice.

Connector spec by model

  • Revuelto: Type 2. Around 3.8kWh battery. Very low onboard AC charger. No DC rapid charging.
  • Urus SE: Type 2. Around 25.9kWh battery. Around 7.4kW AC.

The Revuelto's battery is smaller than a plug-in hybrid hatchback's

At roughly 3.8kWh it exists to fill torque and drive the front axle. It refills from a household socket in about an hour. There is no cable decision to agonise over: anything works, and the 3-pin lead is genuinely sufficient.

The Urus SE is a different proposition

Twenty-six kilowatt hours at 7.4kW is around three and a half hours, and enough electric range to do local journeys without starting the engine. Here the 32amp single-phase lead is worth having, because the charging rate genuinely affects how often you can run on electricity.

If you own both, buy for the Urus

A 32amp lead feeds the Revuelto perfectly well. The reverse is not true: a 16amp cable bought for the Revuelto will make the Urus slower than it needs to be.

Length recommendations

These cars are usually garaged alongside others. Measure the route rather than the distance, and go longer. 10m minimum on the Urus. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

What we stock for Lamborghini

  • Type 2 to Type 2 cables from 5m to 20m.
  • Type 2 to 3-pin Mode 2 leads, entirely adequate on the Revuelto.

Questions

Does one cable fit the Revuelto and the Urus SE?
Yes, both use a Type 2 socket. If you own both, buy the 32amp lead, which suits the Urus and feeds the Revuelto perfectly well.
What rating for a Revuelto?
Anything. The battery is around 3.8kWh and refills from a household socket in about an hour.
What rating for a Urus SE?
The 32amp single-phase lead. At around 25.9kWh and 7.4kW the charging rate genuinely affects how often you run on electricity.
Can either car rapid charge?
The Revuelto has no DC socket. Charging is through the AC lead in both cases.
What length should I buy?
10m minimum on the Urus. These cars are usually garaged alongside others, so measure the route rather than the straight-line distance.
