Citroën EV & Hybrid Charging Cables

Seven cables for Citroën's electric and plug-in hybrid cars. They use a Type 2 inlet, so the choice comes down to how far the cable has to travel and how quickly you need the charge.

For most owners, 5m at 7.4kW single-phase is the sensible default and covers a typical driveway comfortably. Step up to 22kW only if you have a genuine three-phase supply, which is rare in UK homes but common on workplace and commercial chargers. A three-phase cable is no mistake on a single-phase supply, incidentally: it simply charges at 7.4kW.

Which Citroën?

We'll preselect the variant that fits.

We read your charge port, max AC rate and phase from DVLA data, then take you to the exact variant.

Choosing the right cable for your Citroën

Citroën sits on Stellantis platforms shared with Peugeot, Vauxhall and DS, so the charging hardware is common across all four and a lead bought for one fits the others. There is one exception in the range, and it catches people out often enough to deal with first.

The Ami does not take a charging cable

The Citroën Ami is a quadricycle rather than a car, and it charges from an ordinary household socket using a cable permanently attached to the vehicle. There is no Type 2 socket and nothing to plug a separate lead into. If you own an Ami you do not need anything from this page, and anyone selling you a Type 2 cable for one has misunderstood the vehicle.

Connector spec by model

  • ë-C3 (2024+): Type 2 + CCS. 7.4kW AC as standard, 11kW optional. 44kWh battery.
  • ë-C4 and ë-C4 X: Type 2 + CCS. 7.4kW or 11kW AC depending on trim. 50kWh or 54kWh.
  • ë-Berlingo: Type 2 + CCS. 7.4kW or 11kW AC. 50kWh.
  • ë-SpaceTourer: Type 2 + CCS. 7.4kW or 11kW AC.
  • C5 Aircross Plug-in Hybrid: Type 2. 3.7kW AC as standard, 7.4kW optional. 13.2kWh.
  • Ami: integrated 3-pin lead. No Type 2 socket.

Check whether your car has the 11kW option

Stellantis sells the faster onboard charger as an option rather than fitting it as standard, so two apparently identical ë-C4s can charge at different speeds. It makes no difference to which cable you buy, because a 32amp single-phase lead covers both cases and a British home supply is single-phase anyway. It does explain why your car may charge more slowly than a friend's.

The plug-in hybrid is the slow one

A C5 Aircross Plug-in Hybrid on the standard charger accepts 3.7kW into a 13.2kWh battery, which is a little under four hours from empty. The 16amp cable is ample. Buying a 32amp lead for one is not wrong, and it suits you better if the next car is electric, but it will not charge the Aircross any faster.

Length recommendations

Citroën charge ports sit on the rear wing on most models and the front wing on the ë-C3. Measure with the car parked as it normally sits, then add a metre or two. 10m suits most driveways. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

What we stock for Citroën

  • Type 2 to Type 2 cables from 5m to 20m, 3.6kW to 22kW.
  • Type 2 to 3-pin Mode 2 leads for household sockets.
  • The same leads fit Peugeot, Vauxhall and DS models on the shared platform.

Questions

Do I need a cable for a Citroën Ami?
No. The Ami is a quadricycle with a charging lead built into the vehicle that plugs straight into a household socket. It has no Type 2 socket, so nothing on this page applies to it.
What cable does an ë-C4 need?
A Type 2 lead. The 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable suits every trim, whether your car has the 7.4kW or the 11kW onboard charger.
Why does my Citroën charge slower than the same model belonging to a friend?
Stellantis sells the 11kW onboard charger as an option. Two identical-looking cars can have different charging hardware, and the cable makes no difference to that.
What rating for the C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid?
The 16amp cable is ample. On the standard charger the car accepts 3.7kW, so a faster lead cannot speed it up.
Will a Peugeot or Vauxhall cable fit?
Yes. These brands share Stellantis platforms and the same Type 2 arrangement, so the leads are interchangeable.
