One point catches people out. The cable you buy here is for AC charging, at home or at a destination post. Rapid DC charging uses a tethered lead attached to the charger itself, so you never carry one for that. At home on a single-phase supply, 7.4kW is your ceiling regardless of what the car can accept, and a three-phase five-pin cable will still work perfectly well, it just delivers 7.4kW. Choosing the right cable for your Jaguar

The I-Pace was among the first credible premium electric cars in Britain and it is now out of production, which means most Jaguar cable buyers are owners of a used car rather than a new one. That changes what matters: the original lead is often long gone, and the car has a quirk worth knowing before you replace it.

The I-Pace charges slowly on AC for its battery size

It carries 90kWh but the standard onboard charger accepts only 7kW, with an 11kW unit offered as an option that few UK cars were specified with. Ninety kilowatt hours at 7kW is around thirteen hours from empty. That is not a fault and no cable will improve it, because the limit is the car. It does mean the I-Pace rewards a home wallbox and overnight charging rather than opportunistic top-ups.

Buying for a used I-Pace

Cars that have been through several owners often arrive with the granny lead and nothing else, or with a cable of unknown provenance. A 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 lead is the correct everyday replacement and costs a fraction of a main-dealer part. There is nothing Jaguar-specific about the connector.

The plug-in hybrids are straightforward

Both the F-Pace and E-Pace plug-ins accept around 7kW into a small battery, so they fill in two to three hours on any 32amp lead. The 16amp cable also covers them comfortably.

Length recommendations

The I-Pace charge port is on the front wing, which on a driveway usually means the car is nose-out from the wallbox or the cable runs along the flank. 10m is the safe default. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.
