Choosing the right cable for your Lotus
Across almost the whole of this site our advice on the 22kW three-phase cable is the same: do not buy it, because your car cannot use it. Lotus is the exception, and it is worth explaining why rather than simply selling you the more expensive lead.
Connector spec by model
- Eletre (2023+): Type 2 + CCS. Up to 22kW AC on the onboard charger. 112kWh battery. 350kW DC.
- Emeya (2024+): Type 2 + CCS. Up to 22kW AC. 102kWh. 350kW DC.
Why 22kW matters here and nowhere else
Most electric cars have an 11kW onboard charger at best, and many have 7.4kW. Hand those a three-phase cable and nothing changes. Lotus fitted the Eletre and Emeya with a 22kW unit, and paired it with batteries above 100kWh. On a three-phase supply that combination turns a fourteen-hour charge into something closer to five. That is a different overnight experience, not a rounding difference.
The condition is your electricity supply, not the car
Three-phase power is rare in British homes. If your property is single-phase, which it almost certainly is unless you have specifically had three-phase installed, the car draws 7.4kW no matter which cable is plugged in. In that case the 32amp lead is your everyday cable and the three-phase one is dead money.
Check before you spend
Look at your consumer unit or ask your electrician. A single-phase supply has one live conductor into the property; three-phase has three. It is not something you can tell from the wallbox alone. If you are unsure, buy the 32amp lead, which works either way.
Length recommendations
These are long cars with the charge port on the rear wing. 10m is the minimum sensible choice and 15m is not excessive. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.
