Choosing the right cable for your Abarth
Abarth's electric cars are Fiats with more power, stiffer suspension and a synthesised exhaust note. Underneath the theatre the charging hardware is identical to the 500e and 600e it is based on, which is good news for anyone shopping for a cable.
Connector spec by model
- 500e (2023+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 42kWh battery. 85kW DC.
- 600e (2024+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 54kWh. 100kW DC.
Small batteries make this simple
A 42kWh 500e on a home wallbox at 7.4kW is under six hours from empty. The 600e at 54kWh is closer to seven and a half. Both fit comfortably inside a night on a 32amp single-phase lead, and neither can use a three-phase supply on an ordinary British house because the supply itself caps at 7.4kW.
There is no Abarth-specific cable
The connector is standard Type 2. A lead bought for a Fiat 500e, a Peugeot e-208 or a Vauxhall Corsa Electric fits an Abarth exactly. Anything sold as an Abarth cable is an ordinary lead with a badge on the listing and usually a mark-up to match.
Track days and public charging
Abarths get driven to places other small EVs do not, which means more reliance on public AC posts than the average city car. A 10m lead handles awkwardly sited bays far better than a 5m one, and that matters more than the rating on a battery this size.
