Choosing the right cable for your Dongfeng

Dongfeng builds across an unusually wide range, from small electric hatchbacks to commercial vehicles, and reaches Britain through importers rather than one national network. Which type of vehicle you have matters more than the badge does when choosing a cable.

Connector spec

  • Dongfeng passenger EVs: Type 2 + CCS. Onboard AC charger varies by model, typically 6.6kW to 11kW.
  • Dongfeng electric commercial vehicles: Type 2 + CCS. Larger batteries, specification varies by build.

Car or van changes the length, not the connector

Both use Type 2, so the same cable family fits. What differs is where the vehicle gets charged. A car on a driveway is well served by 10m. A van charged in a yard or at a kerbside needs 15m or 20m, and benefits from the run-over proof construction our Type 2 leads carry.

Check your onboard charger before paying for capacity

Specifications vary by model and build across this range more than they do for a mainstream marque. If your vehicle has a 6.6kW onboard charger, a 32amp lead already exceeds it and a three-phase cable is pure cost. The handbook or the charge-port label will tell you.

Importer supply is the reason to hold a spare

Replacement parts through a small importer take longer than through a factory network, and a vehicle without a cable is a vehicle you cannot charge. A second lead costs less than the disruption.

Length recommendations

10m for a car, 15m to 20m for a van. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

What we stock for Dongfeng

Questions

What cable does a Dongfeng need?
A Type 2 lead. The 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable suits the range.
Does the same cable fit the cars and the vans?
Yes, both use Type 2. What changes is the length: 10m for a car, 15m to 20m for a van charged in a yard.
Should I buy the three-phase cable?
Check your onboard charger first. If it is 6.6kW, a 32amp lead already exceeds it and three-phase is pure cost.
Why keep a spare cable?
Replacement parts through a small importer take longer than through a factory network, and without a cable you cannot charge.
Will the cable survive commercial use?
Our Type 2 leads are run-over proof and IP55 sealed, which is the relevant specification for yard and kerbside charging.
