One cable, and a caveat worth reading first. Lucid is not widely sold in the UK, so cars here are typically imports and the inlet depends on which market the car was built for. European specification vehicles use Type 2. Check the socket on your own car rather than assuming.

Choosing the right cable for your Lucid

Lucid builds some of the largest batteries on the road, and there is one thing to get right before anything else: the connector on a European Lucid is not the connector on an American one.

Do not buy a cable from a US supplier

North American Lucids use a different charging standard entirely. A lead bought there will not fit a UK car, and the American advice, forum posts and accessory listings that dominate search results for this brand do not apply here. European cars use Type 2, the same seven-pin connector as a Volkswagen or a BMW.

Connector spec by model

  • Air (UK and Europe): Type 2 + CCS. High onboard AC charger, three-phase capable on suitable supplies. Battery from 88kWh to over 110kWh depending on version.
  • Gravity: Type 2 + CCS in Europe. Larger SUV, same connector.

Battery size changes the calculation

On a single-phase British home at 7.4kW, a 110kWh pack is around fifteen hours from empty. In practice nobody charges from zero, but it does mean the Air is a car where three-phase genuinely alters the routine rather than shaving minutes. Where a property has it, the 22kW lead is one of the few upgrades on this site we would actively recommend.

On an ordinary supply, buy the 32amp lead

If the house is single-phase the car draws 7.4kW whatever is plugged in, and the three-phase cable does nothing. That is the same answer as for most EVs; it is only the size of the battery that makes the question worth asking here at all.

Length recommendations

The Air is a long car and the charge port sits on the front wing. 10m minimum, 15m on a longer driveway. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

Is the three-phase cable worth it?
On this car, yes, if the property has three-phase power. The battery is large enough that the saving runs to several hours.

What length should I buy?
10m minimum. The Air is a long car with the charge port on the front wing, which puts it further from a wall box than expected.
