Aiways EV Charging Cables
Type 2 charging cables for the Aiways range.
Which Aiways?
We'll preselect the variant that fits.
Choosing the right cable for your Aiways
Aiways sold the U5 and U6 in Britain through a small retail partnership and then withdrew from the market. The cars themselves are unaffected by that, but the support around them thinned out quickly, and replacing anything that leaves the vehicle became harder than it should be.
Connector spec by model
- U5 (2020-2023): Type 2 + CCS. 6.6kW AC. 63kWh battery. 90kW DC.
- U6 (2022-2023): Type 2 + CCS. 6.6kW AC. 63kWh.
The cable is the part that goes missing
Most components on a car stay attached to it. The charging lead does not: it comes out, goes into a boot, gets left at an office, gets caught in a gate. It is by some distance the most commonly replaced item on any EV, and on a car whose retail network has gone, that matters more than usual.
Standard connector, ordinary purchase
The U5 and U6 use Type 2, the same connector as every other EV sold in Europe. A quality third-party lead is the correct part, not a substitute for one. Nothing about the brand's withdrawal changes what fits.
6.6kW means the cheaper cable is not a compromise
Both cars accept 6.6kW, so a 32amp lead already supplies more than they can draw. There is nothing a higher rating could add. Buy on length and build quality instead.
