GWM Ora EV Charging Cables

Type 2 charging cables for the GWM Ora range. If you bought this car early it was called the Ora Funky Cat. It is now the GWM Ora 03, same car, and like the KGM situation the rename makes finding accessories harder than it should be.

Choosing the right cable for your GWM Ora

If you bought this car when it launched it was called the Ora Funky Cat. It is now the GWM Ora 03. Same car, new name, and like most renames in this market the main consequence is that searching for accessories under one name misses everything listed under the other.

Connector spec by model

  • Ora 03 / Funky Cat (2022+): Type 2 + CCS. Onboard AC charger varies by trim, 6.6kW on some versions and 11kW on others. 48kWh or 63kWh battery.
  • GWM Haval plug-in models: Type 2, as they arrive in the UK.

Trim decides your charging speed, not the cable

Two Ora 03s can charge at different rates depending on which onboard charger they were built with. This is worth knowing because it explains a difference you may notice, and worth ignoring when choosing a cable: a 32amp lead feeds either version whatever it can accept. A cable never limits a car it out-rates.

A 63kWh battery on a British supply

At 7.4kW that is around nine hours from empty, comfortably overnight. On a 6.6kW car it is closer to ten. Neither case justifies a three-phase cable on a single-phase home.

Search under both names for anything else

Owner forums, reviews and parts listings are split between Funky Cat and Ora 03. When you are looking for anything beyond a cable, checking both names saves a good deal of time.

Length recommendations

10m suits most driveways and gives room on public bays. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

What we stock for GWM Ora

Questions

Is the Funky Cat the same as the Ora 03?
Yes. The model was renamed and the charging arrangement is unchanged, so the same cable fits either.
What cable does the Ora 03 need?
A Type 2 lead. The 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable suits every trim.
My car charges slower than another Ora, why?
The onboard charger varies by trim, 6.6kW on some versions and 11kW on others. The cable makes no difference to that.
How long does a full charge take?
Around nine hours from empty at 7.4kW for the 63kWh battery, or closer to ten on a 6.6kW car.
Is the three-phase cable worth buying?
No. On a British single-phase home supply the car draws 7.4kW at most whatever cable is fitted.
