Choosing the right cable for your KGM

KGM is the company formerly called SsangYong, and the rename causes more difficulty than the charging does. Depending on registration date your logbook may say either name, and parts searches under the newer one often return nothing at all.

Connector spec by model

  • Torres EVX (2024+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 73.4kWh battery.
  • Korando e-Motion (2022+): Type 2 + CCS. 11kW AC. 61.5kWh. Sold under the SsangYong badge.
  • Musso EV: Type 2 + CCS. Pickup, specification varies by build.

Search under both names

A Korando e-Motion was sold as a SsangYong and a Torres EVX as a KGM, but they are the same manufacturer and share the same charging hardware. If you are looking for accessories, try both names. The cable is identical either way, because the connector is an industry standard rather than a manufacturer's design.

There is no KGM-specific cable

Anything marketed as one is an ordinary Type 2 lead with a badge on the listing. A 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the correct everyday part for every model in the range.

A 73.4kWh Torres is an overnight charge

At 7.4kW on a British single-phase supply that is around ten hours from empty. The car's 11kW onboard charger only comes into play on three-phase, which very few homes have. The 32amp lead is the practical ceiling for most owners.

The Musso is a working vehicle

If yours is the pickup, buy longer than you would for a car and take advantage of the run-over proof construction. A pickup parked on a yard sits further from the socket than a car on a driveway.

My logbook says SsangYong, is that the same as KGM?
Yes. SsangYong was renamed KGM and the charging arrangement is unchanged, so the same cable fits either badge.
What cable does the Torres EVX need?
A Type 2 lead. The 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable is the everyday one on a British home supply.
Is there a KGM-specific cable?
No. These cars use the standard Type 2 connector, so any quality Type 2 lead is the correct part.
How long does a Torres EVX take to charge?
