DS EV & Hybrid Charging Cables

Two cables for DS, whose electric and plug-in hybrid models sold in the UK use a Type 2 inlet.

A small selection, but it covers the decision most DS owners are actually making, which is length. Measure from the wallbox to the charging flap with the car parked the way you normally park it, then add a metre of slack so the lead is never pulled tight. Five metres suits most driveways. Ten metres is for shared parking, or for a charger fitted on the wrong side of the house. Order before 4pm and it goes out the same day.

Which DS?

We'll preselect the variant that fits.

We read your charge port, max AC rate and phase from DVLA data, then take you to the exact variant.

Choosing the right cable for your DS

DS is Stellantis's premium brand, sharing platforms with Peugeot, Citroën and Vauxhall. The charging hardware is identical to those cars, which is useful to know because DS-branded accessories tend to carry a premium the connector does not justify.

Connector spec by model

  • DS 3 E-Tense (2019+): Type 2 + CCS. 7.4kW AC standard, 11kW optional. 50kWh, later 54kWh.
  • DS 4 E-Tense Plug-in Hybrid: Type 2. 3.7kW standard, 7.4kW optional. 12.4kWh.
  • DS 7 E-Tense Plug-in Hybrid: Type 2. 3.7kW standard, 7.4kW optional. 14.2kWh.
  • DS 9 E-Tense Plug-in Hybrid: Type 2. 7.4kW AC. 15.6kWh.

There is no DS-specific cable

The socket is the same Type 2 fitted to a Peugeot e-208 or a Vauxhall Corsa Electric. A lead bought for any of those fits a DS, and a quality third-party cable is the same part as a branded one at a fraction of the price.

Most of the range is plug-in hybrid

Three of the four DS plug-ins are hybrids with batteries between 12.4kWh and 15.6kWh. On the standard 3.7kW charger that is three to four hours; on the optional 7.4kW unit, closer to two. The 16amp cable covers every case. Buying 32amp is sensible only if a full EV is likely next.

The DS 3 E-Tense is the one with a real battery

At 50kWh or 54kWh it is a genuine overnight charge, roughly seven hours at 7.4kW. The 32amp single-phase lead is the right rating.

Length recommendations

DS charge ports follow the Stellantis convention on the rear wing. 10m suits most driveways. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

Questions

What cable does a DS 3 E-Tense need?
A Type 2 lead. The 32amp single-phase Type 2 to Type 2 cable suits it, whether your car has the 7.4kW or 11kW onboard charger.
Is there a DS-specific cable?
No. DS uses the same Type 2 connector as Peugeot, Citroën and Vauxhall, so any quality Type 2 lead is the correct part.
What rating for a DS 4 or DS 7 plug-in hybrid?
The 16amp cable. On the standard charger these accept 3.7kW, which fills the battery in three to four hours.
Will a Peugeot cable fit my DS?
Yes. They share Stellantis platforms and the same charging arrangement.
How long does a DS 3 E-Tense take to charge?
Around seven hours from empty at 7.4kW on a home wallbox.
