Questions buyers ask
EV Cable Hub supplies EV charging cables wholesale across the UK from 10 units a year. That covers Type 2, Type 1 and three-phase cables, granny chargers and V2L adapters for installers, fleets, councils and other businesses, with quotes within one working day and next working day delivery on stock.
There's no minimum order. Trade pricing starts at 10 units a year, and you don't have to buy them all at once.
It depends on how many you buy over a year and your mix of lengths and brands, so we quote rather than publish a price list. Send your rough numbers and you'll have unit prices within one working day.
The vehicles or the connector type on each, the lengths you want, roughly how many a year, where they need delivering and when you need the first ones. A rough number is fine to start with.
Yes. Most cable orders fall well under formal tender thresholds, so they can usually be bought on a quote and a purchase order. We'll fill in your supplier forms and send each product's declaration of conformity with the quote.
Yes. Approved businesses and public bodies can pay on 30-day terms, subject to a credit check. Every invoice shows VAT and we accept purchase orders. Until an account is set up, you can pay by card or bank transfer.
Most fleets are best served by a Type 2 to Type 2, Mode 3 cable rated at 32A. On a single-phase chargepoint it charges at up to 7.4kW, which is what most UK workplace and home chargers supply.
Often, yes. A 22kW cable is a 32A three-phase cable, and it works at lower power too, so it charges just as well on a 7kW single-phase chargepoint. Charging speed is capped by whichever is lowest: the chargepoint, the cable or the car's onboard charger, and many cars take 11kW on three-phase while only some take 22kW. If your depot has three-phase chargers, or might in future, 22kW cables save replacing them later. If not, 7.4kW cables are lighter and cheaper.
5m suits most bays where the charger sits directly in front of the vehicle. Go for 8m or 10m if the charger is to one side, the charge port is on the far side of the vehicle, or one charger serves two bays. Longer cables cost more, weigh more and are more of a trip hazard, so don't go longer than you need. Tell us your layout and we'll suggest lengths.
Usually. Most electric vans sold in the UK, from small vans to 3.5-tonne panel vans, use Type 2 for AC charging, so the same cables work across cars and vans. A few older models use Type 1. Send us the make, model and year and we'll confirm each one.
Yes. Send us the makes and models and we'll match each to the right connector, current and length. Nearly every electric car sold in the UK now charges on Type 2, so a mixed fleet often needs fewer different cables than people expect.
Yes. Alongside Type 2, Type 1 and three-phase cables we supply V2L adapters, which let a compatible vehicle power tools or equipment from its battery, and Mode 2 granny chargers that plug into a 3-pin socket. Granny chargers suit occasional or backup use. For daily fleet charging we'd point you to Type 2 cables and a proper chargepoint.
Look for a UKCA or CE mark, a declaration of conformity that names the cable's model, and a test report from an independent lab showing the connectors were tested to IEC 62196. The importer's name and address should be on the cable or its packaging. If a seller can't show you those, treat the cable with caution.
Our own-brand cables carry UKCA or CE marking, backed by a declaration of conformity and a test report from an independent lab. They're listed on our safety and certificates page, and we'll get the manufacturer's documents for anything else we sell.
In-stock orders placed by 4pm Monday to Friday leave the same day by DPD for next working day delivery, free over £150. For larger quantities we give a firm delivery date on the quote, and we can split one order across several sites.
Yes. Northern Ireland and some Highlands and Islands postcodes take 2 to 3 working days. The Republic of Ireland takes 3 to 7 working days by DPD International.
The same 2-year warranty as everyone else, covering faults in materials and workmanship. Send every claim, from any site, to one address and we'll deal with it, so you have one supplier to talk to rather than several manufacturers. Full details are on our warranty page.
Yes, trade customers are welcome to resell. On larger regular orders we can also talk about putting your branding on the packaging. Tell us your volumes and we'll say what's possible.
