Modern slavery statement

EV Cable Hub Ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and child labour. This statement sets out the steps we take to make sure these practices have no place in our business or supply chain.

About this statement

This statement is published voluntarily, in the spirit of section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. While our turnover does not yet meet the £36 million threshold that triggers a statutory reporting obligation, we choose to publish a statement because the issues matter and our customers deserve to know our position.

Our business

EV Cable Hub Ltd is a UK-registered private company that retails EV charging equipment online to UK customers. Our supply chain consists primarily of:

  • EV charging cable manufacturers (UK, EU, Far East)
  • Wallbox and home-charger manufacturers (UK, EU, Far East)
  • Accessory manufacturers (UK, EU, Far East)
  • Logistics providers (UK couriers and warehousing)
  • Professional services (UK accountants, legal, software platforms)

Our policies

We expect every supplier to operate to high ethical and labour standards. Our supplier on-boarding requires written confirmation that the supplier:

  • Pays at least minimum legal wages for the country of operation;
  • Operates voluntary employment with no worker held in debt bondage or against their will;
  • Does not use child labour;
  • Provides safe working conditions in line with local law;
  • Permits reasonable working hours with rest periods;
  • Does not retain workers' identification documents.

Risk assessment

We treat the following parts of our supply chain as elevated-risk:

  • Far-East cable and electronics manufacturing (raw-material extraction, particularly cobalt and rare-earths used in chargers);
  • Component sub-assembly in jurisdictions with weaker labour-rights enforcement;
  • Warehouse and last-mile logistics agency labour.

We mitigate by working preferentially with suppliers carrying recognised independent audits (Sedex/SMETA, BSCI, Responsible Business Alliance) and by reviewing every new supplier ourselves.

Due diligence

  • Pre-contract supplier questionnaire including modern-slavery declarations.
  • Annual review of all suppliers contributing more than £25,000 of annual spend.
  • Right-to-audit clause in all new supplier contracts.
  • Confidential reporting line for staff and suppliers (ethics@evcablehub.co.uk).

Training

Every member of staff receives modern-slavery awareness training as part of induction. Buyers and supply-chain staff receive refresher training annually.

Effectiveness

We measure effectiveness against three KPIs:

  • Percentage of new suppliers signing our modern-slavery declaration (target: 100%).
  • Number of suppliers audited or holding recognised independent audit (target: increasing year-on-year).
  • Number of incidents reported via the ethics line and resolved.

We have not identified any actual modern-slavery incidents in our supply chain to date. We continue to act on the assumption that risk exists and must be actively managed.

Reporting concerns

If you suspect modern slavery in our supply chain, please contact ethics@evcablehub.co.uk. Reports are treated in confidence. You can also contact the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700.
