Choosing the right cable for your Denza

Denza is BYD's premium marque, and that relationship is the single most useful fact for an owner buying anything. The badge is different; the charging architecture underneath is the group's.

Connector spec by model

  • Z9GT: Type 2 + CCS. Up to 11kW AC. Available as full electric and as a plug-in hybrid.
  • D9: Type 2 + CCS. MPV, electric and plug-in hybrid versions.

BYD hardware behind the badge

Denza shares the group's charging architecture, so a lead that fits a BYD fits a Denza. There is no premium-brand connector and no reason to pay a premium-brand price for the cable. Our BYD charging cables page covers the sister marque.

Vehicle-to-load on the group's cars

BYD-group vehicles commonly support V2L, which supplies mains power from the car battery. That needs a discharge cable rather than a charging lead, and the group cable we stock is listed in our V2L adapter range. Check your specific model and trim supports it before ordering, because it is not universal.

Electric or plug-in hybrid changes the rating

Denza sells both. On a full electric Z9GT a 32amp single-phase lead is the everyday cable. On a plug-in hybrid version the battery is small enough that a 16amp lead fills it comfortably. If you are unsure which you have, check whether the car has a CCS rapid-charging socket below the AC inlet: full electric models do, most plug-in hybrids do not.

Length recommendations

These are large cars. 10m minimum. Compare across our Type 2 charging cables.

Questions

What cable does a Denza need?
A Type 2 lead. The 32amp single-phase cable on a full electric model, or the 16amp version on a plug-in hybrid.
Is a Denza the same as a BYD for charging?
Yes. Denza is BYD's premium marque and shares the group's charging architecture, so the same leads fit.
How do I tell whether mine is fully electric?
Look below the AC inlet. Full electric models have a CCS rapid-charging socket; most plug-in hybrids do not.
Can I run appliances from the car?
BYD-group vehicles commonly support vehicle-to-load, which needs a discharge cable rather than a charging lead. Check your model and trim first, because it is not universal.
What length should I buy?
10m minimum. These are large cars and the charge port can sit well away from a wallbox.
