Overview
The Deepal S07 arrived in Britain recently and the dealer network is still thin on the ground. That is the practical argument for keeping a second cable in the boot: if the one that came with the car goes missing or gets damaged, a replacement through a new franchise can take a while.
The car itself is straightforward. It charges through a Type 2 socket with an 11kW onboard charger and an 80kWh battery. British homes are almost never wired for three phases, so on a normal wallbox the S07 draws 7.4kW and fills from empty in roughly eleven hours. The 22kW three-phase lead only pays off if you have three-phase at the property or live off 22kW public posts.
Choosing your lead
- Type 2 to Type 2. The everyday lead, at home and in public. 5m if the charger is beside the car, 10m if it is across the drive.
- Type 2 to 3-pin. A Mode 2 lead for a household socket at 2.3kW. A backup, not a main charger.
Every cable is CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated against British weather, and carries a two-year warranty. Most owners want the 7.4kW single-phase lead.

10m and 5m cables for untethered charger use
Bought one 10m cable to use with an untethered wall charger at home. Very impressed with quality so bought a second 5m cable to keep in the van in case I needed to use an untethered charger when on the road. Cables are well made and sufficiently flexible to allow easy use. I particularly like the fact that there are covers fitted at both ends to keep the contacts clean when not in use - many cables only have a cover at one end.
