Overview
A simple adapter power source, BYD only
This vehicle to load (V2L) cable turns a BYD Atto 2, Atto 3, Seal, Sealion or Dolphin into a mobile power source for home appliances. The same idea is sometimes called vehicle to device, or V2D. Plug into the car's Type 2 charge port, select the discharge option on the infotainment system display, and you have a mains socket to work from. BYD only; it will not work on other makes.
Depending on the car model you can connect up to 2.5kW of load. That is enough for camping equipment well away from a hook-up, tools at the far end of a garden, or a kettle and a few lights when the power is off.
Important safety note. A vehicle to load cable must never be connected to any other electrical system, because there is no voltage or phase synchronisation between the car and a fixed installation. Failing to adhere to this will void your vehicle warranty and has the potential to cause serious damage to both the connected system and the vehicle.
What the IP44 rating means here
IP44 (Ingress Protection Rating) means the cable will operate in dusty conditions and will resist splashes of water while mated. It does not mean the connection is sealed: the charging process is not fully water sealed, and the cable should never be submerged in water.

Looking after it
- The cable can be kept outside, but keep it out of puddles.
- Fit the rubber dust cover whenever it is not in use, so debris cannot collect in the connector.
- Moisture is the most common issue we see. It corrodes the pins, and pin corrosion is not covered by our warranty.
Worth knowing about rain: water still gets into the plug and the car's socket as you insert and remove the connector. The moment you open the charge port or unplug, rain lands on the pins and stays there until the next charge. A quick wipe and the dust cap go a long way. See our other V2L adapters.

Installation
- 01Park up and leave the car in the mode its handbook specifies for discharge.
- 02Plug the connector into the car's charge port until the latch clicks.
- 03Enable discharge on the car - the infotainment menu or the button on the connector, depending on the model. See Specifications for this one.
- 04Check the socket is live before you plug anything in, and keep the outlet end dry and off the ground.
