Overview

NIO built its reputation on battery swapping, and that shapes what people expect of the cars. In Britain the swap network does not exist, so however the brand is marketed elsewhere, a NIO here is charged like any other electric car: plugged in, through a Type 2 socket.

That makes the cable more important on a NIO than the marketing would suggest, not less. The 32amp single-phase lead is the everyday one, and it is worth owning a good length rather than relying on whatever came with the car.

Every cable is CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated and carries a two-year warranty.

Features

  • Battery swapping is not a UK option

The swap network does not exist here, so a NIO is charged by plugging it in like any other EV.

  • Matched to the NIO charge port

NIO cars sold in Europe use a Type 2 socket, and every cable here ends in the matching connector.

  • The cable matters more, not less

With no swap stations, the lead is how the car gets its energy. Buy a good length rather than relying on what came with it.

  • 5m to 20m

10m covers most driveways and public bays.

Installation

  1. 01Unlock the car - most won't accept a cable while locked.
  2. 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
  3. 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
  4. 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.

What customers say about us

  • First class service

First class service. Ordered 15m cable and it was delivered next day. Minor hiccup in that the accompanying bag was missing. Quick email to Jake at EV Cable Hub and the bag arrived next working day. 1st class product and even better customer service. Thank you.
