Overview
With seven seats occupied there is not much boot left in an XC90, and a coiled charging cable is the first thing to get in the way.
That is worth thinking about before you pick a length, because the charging side is straightforward. The T8 Recharge takes 3.7kW on cars up to 2021, which a 16A Type 2 lead supplies in full, and about 6.4kW from 2022 with the 18.8kWh battery, which needs a 32A lead.
Neither figure is high, so the charge is short. A 5m lead stores more easily under the boot floor and is usually enough if the wallbox is beside the car.
Which cable to choose
- Type 2 to Type 2. 5m stores more easily with seven seats up. 10m if the wallbox is across the drive or you use public posts.
- Type 2 to 3-pin. A Mode 2 lead for a household socket. Slow, and not intended as your main charger, but worth having in the boot.
Every cable we sell is CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated against British weather, and carries a two-year warranty.

Which lead depends on the model year
Cars up to 2021 take 3.7kW, so a 16amp lead is everything they will use. From 2022 the 18.8kWh battery brought a 6.4kW charger, and that needs a 32amp lead to deliver in full.
-
Three-phase buys nothing here
No Volvo plug-in hybrid can use 22kW. The three-phase lead is the wrong product for this car.
-
Boot space is the real constraint
With the third row in use there is little load bay left. A 5m lead coils down smaller than a 10m one.
-
Certified and weather rated
CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated against British weather, and carries a two-year warranty.
Installation
- 01Unlock the car - most won't accept a cable while locked.
- 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
- 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
- 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.

What customers say about us

First class service
First class service. Ordered 15m cable and it was delivered next day. Minor hiccup in that the accompanying bag was missing. Quick email to Jake at EV Cable Hub and the bag arrived next working day. 1st class product and even better customer service. Thank you.
