Overview
A V60 Recharge used on the school run and the supermarket can go weeks without the engine starting, which only works if plugging in is easy enough to do every night.
That makes cable length the decision that affects daily use most. The charging rate is fixed by the car: 3.7kW up to 2021, which a 16A Type 2 lead covers, and about 6.4kW from 2022 with the bigger battery, which wants a 32A lead.
Both fill the pack in a few hours. A lead that reaches without being dragged round the car is worth more here than any extra amps.
Which cable to choose
- Type 2 to Type 2. 5m if the wallbox is beside the parking space. 10m if you have to come round the car, which is the difference between plugging in nightly and not bothering.
- Type 2 to 3-pin. A Mode 2 lead for a household socket. Slow, and not intended as your main charger, but worth having in the boot.
Every cable we sell is CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated against British weather, and carries a two-year warranty.

Which lead depends on the model year
Cars up to 2021 take 3.7kW, so a 16amp lead is everything they will use. From 2022 the 18.8kWh battery brought a 6.4kW charger, and that needs a 32amp lead to deliver in full.
-
Three-phase buys nothing here
No Volvo plug-in hybrid can use 22kW. The three-phase lead is the wrong product for this car.
-
Easy plugging in is what makes a PHEV work
The electric range only pays off if you charge every night. A lead that reaches comfortably matters more than a higher current rating.
-
Certified and weather rated
CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated against British weather, and carries a two-year warranty.
Installation
- 01Unlock the car - most won't accept a cable while locked.
- 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
- 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
- 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.

First class service
First class service. Ordered 15m cable and it was delivered next day. Minor hiccup in that the accompanying bag was missing. Quick email to Jake at EV Cable Hub and the bag arrived next working day. 1st class product and even better customer service. Thank you.
