Overview
The ES90 runs an 800-volt architecture, which is what lets it take very high DC power at a motorway charger. None of that applies to the cable in your boot.
AC charging is a separate system, and there the ES90 accepts 11kW. On a UK single-phase home wallbox that becomes 7.4kW through a 32A Type 2 lead, exactly as on a car with a conventional 400-volt layout.
It is a common misreading of the spec sheet. The headline DC figure is about rapid charging on a journey; the cable you buy is for the overnight charge, and 32A single-phase is the right pick for that.
Which cable to choose
- Type 2 to Type 2. 10m suits a saloon of this length, especially on a drive where the wallbox was fitted for a smaller car. 5m if the post is alongside the charge port.
- Type 2 to 3-pin. A Mode 2 lead for a household socket. Slow, and not intended as your main charger, but worth having in the boot.

The 800V architecture does not change the cable
High-voltage DC charging is a separate system from the AC socket. For home charging the ES90 behaves like any other 11kW car.

The 11kW onboard charger means a three-phase supply and a 22kW lead would be used in full, which is not true of most EVs.
