Overview
EC40 is the name Volvo gave the C40 Recharge in 2024. Buyers of used cars end up with a V5C and a tailgate that disagree, and a search that returns nothing.
Mechanically it is the same car, with the same 11kW onboard AC charger and the same Type 2 socket. On a UK single-phase home wallbox the usable figure is 7.4kW, which a 32A lead supplies in full.
Nothing about the rename changes the cable. If a listing is written for the C40 Recharge, it fits your EC40.
Which cable to choose
- Type 2 to Type 2. 5m where the wallbox is within reach of the parking space, 10m for public bays and chargers on the far wall.
- Type 2 to 3-pin. A Mode 2 lead for a household socket. Slow, and not intended as your main charger, but worth having in the boot.
Every cable we sell is CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated against British weather, and carries a two-year warranty.

Features
-
A rename, not a new car
Volvo moved the C40 Recharge to the EC40 name in 2024. The charging hardware did not change.
-
32A single phase at home
The car accepts 11kW, but a UK single-phase supply tops out at 7.4kW. A 32A lead gets all of it.
-
Three-phase for public posts only
A 22kW lead makes sense for 22kW public charging or a three-phase property. It adds nothing on a standard home wallbox.
-
Certified and weather rated
CE and TUV certified, IP55 rated against British weather, and carries a two-year warranty.
Installation
- 01Unlock the car - most won't accept a cable while locked.
- 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
- 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
- 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.

What customers say about us

First class service
First class service. Ordered 15m cable and it was delivered next day. Minor hiccup in that the accompanying bag was missing. Quick email to Jake at EV Cable Hub and the bag arrived next working day. 1st class product and even better customer service. Thank you.
