Overview

The Grandland X Hybrid pairs a 1.6 litre petrol engine with two electric motors, and depending on the version it carries either a 3.7kW or a 7.4kW onboard charger. That distinction is the only thing that really matters when you are choosing a cable, so check which one you have before ordering.

Either way, the car needs a Type 2 to Type 2 EV charging cable. We keep 5m and 10m in stock and can source other lengths on request. All our leads are compatible with European and UK standard charging points, are approved and certified by TUV and CE, and are completely weatherproof for long life and durability. Rubber caps protect the connectors when the cable is coiled up.

The short version: with the 3.7kW charger the 16A lead is all you need, because the car cannot use anything more. With the 7.4kW charger, step up to 32A and save nearly two hours.

FAQs

Is this cable compatible with the Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid?
Yes. The Vauxhall Grandland X Hybrid uses a Type 2 inlet and this is a Type 2 charging cable. If you'd like to double-check, your car's charge port should have a 7-pin Type 2 socket, or use our reg checker.
Which cable length should I choose?
Most driveways are fine with 5m. Choose 7-10m if the charge point is wall-mounted away from where you park or your charge port is on the far side of the car, and 15-20m for on-street or awkward layouts. Available here in 5m, 10m, 15m, 20m.
Do I need the 22kW (three-phase) option?
Only if you have a three-phase supply, or you want to be ready for 22kW public AC posts. A three-phase cable still works on a standard single-phase home wallbox; it just charges at up to 7.4kW. Most UK homes are single-phase.
Can I use it at public charge points as well as at home?
Yes. This is a Mode 3 Type 2 cable, so it works at your home wallbox and at any untethered public AC charge point. Rapid DC chargers (motorway) come with their own tethered cables, so you don't need one for those.
What's the 3-pin option for?
The 3-pin (Mode 2 'granny') option lets you top up from a standard domestic socket at up to ~2.3kW when you're away from a wallbox. It's a backup for occasional use, not a daily charging method.
Is it safe to leave outside in the rain?
Yes. The cable and connectors are rated IP55 and built for -30°C to +60°C, so they're safe in UK rain, frost and snow. Don't submerge the connectors in standing water.
What warranty and delivery do I get?
