Overview
When your charging cable will not quite reach
Awkward parking, a charge point on the wrong wall, a public post with a short tether: there are plenty of situations where you end up a couple of metres short. A Type 2 to Type 2 extension is the purpose-built answer, with a Type 2 socket at one end and a Type 2 plug at the other, so it joins onto the lead you already own rather than working around it.
A word on what not to do. A domestic extension reel is not a substitute. It is not rated for hours of continuous high current, it is not built for outdoor charging duty, and it introduces a joint that nothing in the charging chain is designed to monitor. It is also worth checking your own equipment first, because not every charging setup is designed to be extended.
