Overview
The i3 and i3 REX remain a sensible, low-fuss choice years after launch, and they take charge happily at home, at work or on public infrastructure. What you need is the right lead for each of those situations, which for most owners means two cables rather than one.
The two cables worth owning
- Type 2 to Type 2. Your everyday lead, for a home wallbox or any public Type 2 post.
- Type 2 to 3-pin. Plugs into a standard household socket, which makes it the answer when there is no dedicated charge point to hand.
Every i3 cable we sell is CE and TÜV safety certified, IP66 rated against dust and rain, and covered by a two-year warranty.

Built to take the weight of a car, so you can drive over the cable without damaging it (protection against pressure).

3-pin option for home sockets
Choose the 3-pin version to top up from a standard UK domestic socket when there is no wallbox nearby. It is a separate cable option, not an attachment.

Three-phase option
Pick the 32A three-phase version to charge at up to 22kW where a three-phase supply is available. The single-phase versions charge at up to 7.2kW on a standard home wallbox.
Installation
- 01Unlock the car - most won't accept a cable while locked.
- 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
- 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
- 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.
