Overview

Mains power out of your Farizon

This vehicle-to-load (V2L) adapter, sometimes called vehicle-to-device or V2D, turns the battery in your Farizon SV into a mobile power source for home appliances. Plug it into the Type 2 charge port, select the discharge option on the car's infotainment system display, and you have a socket to work from.

Depending on the car model, you can connect up to 3kW of load. That covers camping equipment out in the wilderness, tools on a site with no supply, or lights and a fridge at an event.

Important: a vehicle-to-load cable must never be connected to any other electrical system. There is no voltage or phase synchronisation, so doing so has the potential to cause serious damage to both the connected system and your vehicle, and it will void your vehicle warranty.

What IP44 means in practice

The Ingress Protection rating tells you the cable will operate in dusty conditions and resist splashes of water while mated. The process is not fully water sealed, and the cable must never be submerged.

Looking after it

  • The cable can be kept outside, but keep it out of puddles.
  • Use the rubber dust cover whenever the cable is not in use, so debris does not collect in the connector.
  • Moisture is the most common problem we see. It corrodes the pins, and corrosion is not covered by our warranty.

Rain is worth a thought. Water gets onto the pins during plugging and unplugging, and it sits there until the next time you connect. A quick shake and the dust cover go a long way. See the rest of the range in V2L adapters.

Installation

  1. 01Park up and leave the car in the mode its handbook specifies for discharge.
  2. 02Plug the connector into the car's charge port until the latch clicks.
  3. 03Enable discharge on the car - the infotainment menu or the button on the connector, depending on the model. See Specifications for this one.
  4. 04Check the socket is live before you plug anything in, and keep the outlet end dry and off the ground.

FAQs

Which vehicles does this fit?
Farizon only. It is made for the Farizon SV and will not work on other makes.
How much power can I draw?
Up to 3kW depending on the car model. That comfortably covers camping equipment, site tools with no mains available, or lighting and a fridge at an event.
Can I use it to back up my house?
No. A vehicle-to-load cable must never be connected to any other electrical system. There is no voltage or phase synchronisation, so doing so can cause serious damage to both the connected system and your vehicle, and it will void your vehicle warranty.
Does the vehicle have to support V2L?
Yes. The discharge option is a vehicle function, selected on the infotainment system display after you plug the cable into the Type 2 port. The cable simply gives you a socket to draw from.
What does the IP44 rating mean in practice?
The cable will operate in dusty conditions and resist splashes of water while mated. It is not a full water seal. Keep it out of puddles, use the rubber dust cover between sessions, and never submerge it.
