Overview
The Golf has been the yardstick for hatchbacks since 1974, and the e-Golf carries that forward: quiet, well priced, and good for 144 miles on a full charge. That is London to Brighton and back. None of the Golf's practicality, kit or road manners went missing in the switch to electric, and the extra battery weight does nothing to spoil it. A Type 2 cable comes with the car, but plenty of owners buy a second lead capable of a faster charge rate, and keep the original as a spare.
Does it matter which e-Golf cable you buy?
It matters a great deal, and for two reasons. The current rating decides how quickly the car charges, and the length decides whether the lead reaches from the post to the socket at all. We list 5m, 10m, 15m and 20m, in 16A and 32A single-phase and 32A three-phase, covering 3.6kW, 7.2kW and 22kW. Both ends are Type 2 to IEC 62196-2, so the cable works at UK and European posts, home wallboxes and workplace units alike. Browse the full range in Type 2 charging cables, or call us and we will talk it through.
Is the e-Golf cheap to run?
It runs on electricity alone, at an estimated 4p per mile. The petrol equivalent costs around 14p a mile, which works out at roughly £14.40 saved on that Brighton round trip. Servicing is easier too, with just three main components in the drivetrain and far fewer moving parts than a petrol or diesel car. Every Volkswagen dealer handles electric servicing.
Is it slow to charge?
On a rapid charger it will take on 80 per cent in about forty-five minutes, so a coffee covers it. On AC, a three-phase Type 2 lead is the quickest option the network will give you.
Our cables are copper cored at 2.5mm² to 6mm² depending on current rating, jacketed to IP55, rated from -30°C to +60°C and run-over proof. CE marked, TÜV certified, 24 month manufacturer warranty, and free next-working-day UK delivery on orders over £150.

- 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
- 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
- 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.

First class service
First class service. Ordered 15m cable and it was delivered next day. Minor hiccup in that the accompanying bag was missing. Quick email to Jake at EV Cable Hub and the bag arrived next working day. 1st class product and even better customer service. Thank you.
