Overview

Why our buyers chose Renault/Alpine/Dacia Compatible V2L (Vehicle to Load) | EV Discharge Cable.

A simple adapter power source (Renault, Alpine and Dacia only)

This (V2L) Vehicle to Load cable, sometimes called Vehicle to Device (V2D), turns a Renault 5 E-Tech, Renault 4 E-Tech, Alpine A290 or Dacia Spring 2024 into a mobile power source for home appliances.

Using it is straightforward. Plug into your Type 2 charge port, then use the push button on the Type 2 connector to toggle the V2L function on and off. Press and hold that button for 3 seconds to enable V2L discharge.

You can connect up to 3kW of load through a UK 3 pin outlet, or 3.6kW on CEE and Schuko, depending on the car model. That is enough to run camping equipment a long way from the nearest socket.

Read this twice. Vehicle to load cables should not be connected to any other electrical system, because there is no voltage or phase synchronisation. Failing to observe that will void your vehicle warranty and has the potential to cause serious damage to both the connected system and your vehicle.

What is the IP44 rating?

IP44 (Ingress Protection Rating) means the cable will operate in dusty conditions and will resist splashes of water while mated. The charging process is not fully water sealed, however, and the cable should never be submerged in water.

Cable information

16A, 3G1.5, 10.5mm diameter.

Charging cable safety

  • Keep the cable out of puddles. Storing it outside is fine, standing water is not.
  • Use the rubber dust cover when the cable is not in use, so debris cannot collect in the connector.
  • Moisture is the most common issue we see. It corrodes the pins, and pin corrosion is not covered by our warranty.

Risks of charging in the rain

Water can still get into the plug and the charging socket as you insert and remove the plug from the car. In fact, as soon as you open the charge port or unplug, rain reaches the pins and stays there until the next time you charge.

The rest of our discharge leads are grouped in our V2L adapter range.

Getting started

No installation needed.

This is a plug-and-charge cable: there's nothing to install. Plug the Type 2 end into your home wallbox (or an untethered public AC charge point) and the other end into your car. For 3-pin charging, connect to a standard domestic socket for a slower top-up.

Push both connectors fully home until they click, and always unplug from the charge point first when you've finished.

FAQs

Honest answers.

The Renault 5 E-Tech, Renault 4 E-Tech, Alpine A290 and Dacia Spring 2024. These share the same V2L arrangement, so one cable covers all four.
Plug into the Type 2 charge port, then use the push button on the Type 2 connector to toggle the V2L function. Press and hold that button for 3 seconds to enable discharge. There is no menu to hunt for on this one.
You can connect up to 3kW of load through a UK 3 pin outlet, or 3.6kW on CEE and Schuko, depending on the car model. If you are running something close to the limit, the CEE or Schuko outlet gives you a little more headroom.
No. Vehicle to load cables should not be connected to any other electrical system, because there is no voltage or phase synchronisation. Failing to observe that will void your vehicle warranty and has the potential to cause serious damage to both the connected system and your vehicle. Plug appliances into the cable directly instead.
Yes. The vehicle does the switching, and the cable gives you a socket to draw from. If your car does not have the discharge function, this cable will not add it.
Storing it outside is fine, standing water is not. Use the rubber dust cover when the cable is not in use so debris cannot collect in the connector. Moisture is the most common issue we see, and pin corrosion is not covered by our warranty.
