Overview
The EQC is a fully electric luxury SUV: Mercedes comfort, zero tailpipe emissions and up to 255 miles of WLTP range. Getting the charging right is mostly a matter of matching the cable to what the car can actually accept.
The EQC charges through a Type 2 to Type 2 cable and its onboard AC charger tops out at 7.4 kW. A single-phase 32A cable hits that limit, so it is the quickest AC option for this car. A higher-rated three-phase cable will not charge it any faster, since the restriction sits in the vehicle, but it does leave you covered if you later move to an EV with a faster onboard charger. On DC the EQC accepts up to 110 kW, which takes it from 10 to 80% in around 40 minutes at a compatible rapid charger.
Which cable for a Mercedes-Benz EQC
- Type 2 to Type 2: the everyday choice for EQC drivers, working with home wallboxes and public charge points across the UK. Available in 5m and 10m.
- Type 2 to 3-Pin: connects to a standard UK household socket, which makes it a sensible backup when there is no dedicated wallbox to hand. Also available in 5m and 10m.
EQC charging times by cable
Estimated AC times from empty to full. Because the onboard charger is capped at 7.4 kW, the 1-phase 32A and 3-phase 32A cables finish at the same point.
| Cable type | Capacity | Charging time | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Type 2, 1-phase, 16A | 3.7 kW | 22 hours | |
| Type 2, 1-phase, 32A | 7.4 kW | 10 hours 45 mins | Best fit |
| Type 2, 3-phase, 32A | 22 kW | 10 hours 45 mins | |
| Type 2 to 3-Pin | 2.3 kW | 35 hours (approx.) | Ideal for home charging |

Run-over proof
Built to take the weight of a car, so you can drive over the cable without damaging it (protection against pressure).
-
All-weather rated
Rated IP55, with the Type 2 to 3-Pin version rated IP67, and built to operate from -30°C to +60°C, so it charges reliably through UK rain, frost and summer heat.
-
Universal Type 2 fit
Works with all Type 2 electric vehicles and every UK/EU home wallbox and public AC charge point. No brand lock-in.
-
CE / TÜV certified
Independently certified to CE and TÜV, and built to the IEC 62196-2 Type 2 connector standard.
-
3-pin option for home sockets
Choose the 3-pin version to top up from a standard UK domestic socket when there is no wallbox nearby. It is a separate cable option, not an attachment.
-
Three-phase option
Pick the 32A three-phase version to charge at up to 22kW where a three-phase supply is available. The single-phase versions charge at up to 7.2kW on a standard home wallbox.
Installation

- 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
- 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
- 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.

First class service
First class service. Ordered 15m cable and it was delivered next day. Minor hiccup in that the accompanying bag was missing. Quick email to Jake at EV Cable Hub and the bag arrived next working day. 1st class product and even better customer service. Thank you.
