Which length of Ford Kuga charging cable should you buy?
It depends entirely on where you charge. If the Kuga sits on your own drive with the charging station a couple of feet from the flap, a shorter cable is fine and much easier to coil. If you plan on charging in public, go longer. Bays are often occupied, badly positioned or blocked, and a longer lead lets you stretch past a space or two to reach the car rather than driving on to the next site. Which connector does the Kuga PHEV use?
The Ford Kuga PHEV is fitted with a Type 2 (Mennekes) inlet, the connector used for electric vehicles across Europe and the one you will find on UK home charging stations and public AC charge points. A Type 2 to Type 2 lead therefore covers you at home, at work and out on the road, with a Type 2 to 3-pin lead as a mains-socket backup.
How long does a Ford Kuga PHEV take to charge?
Charging time comes down to the size of the battery and the equipment you are using. The Kuga PHEV carries a 13.6 kWh battery, and Ford state that it can be charged in around 7.5 hours from a home or public AC charging station. Plug into an ordinary 3-pin household socket instead and the time may be significantly longer, around 20 hours or more, so treat that as the overnight-and-then-some option rather than your daily routine.

Installation
