We left Stuttgart at first light with a Taycan, an Ioniq 6, an EV9 and a Model Y, the boot of each loaded with a single Voyage Portable kit. The plan was to climb the Stelvio Pass, drop into the Dolomites, and end the week in Trieste.
Day three: the unexpected farmhouse
A guesthouse outside Bormio offered a CEE blue 16-amp socket on the side of a stone barn. Plugged in overnight at 11 amps, the Ioniq added 78 kilowatt-hours by sunrise.
The kit at the end
After 4,200 kilometres the cables were lightly scuffed, the carrying cases were caked with road salt, and not a single unit had thrown a fault. We washed them in the hotel sink in Trieste and they looked, more or less, as they had on day one.
