Overview

Toyota Prius, 2017 onwards

The plug-in hybrid Prius keeps everything good about a hybrid and adds a charge point, so the larger battery can be topped up at home, at work or at any PHEV charging point on the network. For that it needs a Type 2 to Type 2 charging cable.

We supply it in 5m and 10m, each with protective rubber caps that keep the connectors clear of dust and bad weather between charges.

    Choose the connector your car uses — Type 1 (SAE J1772) or Type 2 (MENNEKES) — then plug into any UK/EU home wallbox or public AC charge point.

    Independently certified to CE and TÜV, and built to the IEC 62196-2 Type 1 and Type 2 connector standards.

  • 3-pin option for home sockets

    Choose the 3-pin version to top up from a standard UK domestic socket when there is no wallbox nearby. It is a separate cable option, not an attachment.

  • Three-phase option

    Pick the 32A three-phase version to charge at up to 22kW where a three-phase supply is available. The single-phase versions charge at up to 7.2kW on a standard home wallbox.

Installation

  1. 01Unlock the car - most won't accept a cable while locked.
  2. 02Wallbox end first, then the car. Push until the latch clicks.
  3. 03Check the car shows a charging state before you walk away.
  4. 04Coil loosely into the bag - no tight figure-of-eights.

FAQs

Is this cable compatible with the Toyota Prius?
Yes. This is a Type 2 charging cable, and the Toyota Prius uses a Type 2 inlet. If you're unsure, your car's charge port should have a 7-pin Type 2 socket, or you can use our reg checker.
Which cable length should I choose?
Most driveways are fine with 5m. Choose 7-10m if the charge point is wall-mounted away from where you park or your charge port is on the far side of the car, and 15-20m for on-street or awkward layouts. Available here in 5m, 10m, 15m, 20m.
Do I need the 22kW (three-phase) option?
Only if you have a three-phase supply, or you want to be ready for 22kW public AC posts. A three-phase cable still works on a standard single-phase home wallbox; it just charges at up to 7.4kW. Most UK homes are single-phase.
Can I use it at public charge points as well as at home?
Yes. This is a Mode 3 Type 2 cable, so it works at your home wallbox and at any untethered public AC charge point. Rapid DC chargers (motorway) come with their own tethered cables, so you don't need one for those.
What's the 3-pin option for?
The 3-pin (Mode 2 'granny') option lets you top up from a standard domestic socket at up to ~2.3kW when you're away from a wallbox. It's a backup for occasional use, not a daily charging method.
Is it safe to leave outside in the rain?
Yes. The cable and connectors are rated IP55 and built for -30°C to +60°C, so they're safe in UK rain, frost and snow. Don't submerge the connectors in standing water.
What warranty and delivery do I get?
