EV charging sockets and adapters cover the connector ends — Type 2 socket replacements for tethered chargers, 3-pin to Commando converters, Schuko-to-13A travel adapters, and bonded Type 2 inlets for socketed wallbox installs. Specialist parts for installers and DIY-cable repairs, not the everyday cable / wallbox shopper.

- Travel — UK-to-EU Schuko-to-13A adapters, EU-to-UK reverse, and Mode 2 connector swaps.
- Caravan / second-home conversion — adapter cables to bridge between Type 2, 3-pin, Commando and Schuko ends.

Type 1 to Type 2 converter cable
The most common adapter purchase is a Type 1 to Type 2 converter — for Mk1 Leaf, Outlander PHEV Mk1, first-gen BMW i3 owners who want to use modern Type 2 wallboxes. See our dedicated Type 1 to Type 2 cable range for full-cable products.
UK 3-pin to Commando adapter — what it does
Some EVs (Wottz portable, UltraLite, multi-plug grannies) are sold with Commando blue 16A plug ends, designed for caravan hookups. A 3-pin to Commando adapter lets you plug them into a standard UK 3-pin socket. Caveat: the Commando connector and your charger's circuit board are rated for higher current than a UK 3-pin can sustainably carry — using this adapter on a 3-pin socket means you must throttle the charger to 10A max, never 16A.
Why we don't recommend Schuko-to-UK adapters for daily use
Schuko (continental 2-pin) plugs are physically incompatible with UK 3-pin sockets. Adapters exist and work for emergency / travel use, but the safety case is weaker — Schuko plugs lack the UK earth pin's role in safety switching, and most adapters disable some of that protection. Use Schuko-to-UK only for occasional travel, not daily charging.
Bonded inlets and chassis-mount sockets
For installers building or repairing wallboxes, we stock bonded Type 2 inlet sockets — chassis-mount IP55-rated sockets that fit standard wallbox housings. Used in repairs of socketed wallboxes where the original Type 2 inlet has failed (typically due to water ingress or pin damage).
Connector cleaning
Most "intermittent charging" complaints are dirty connector pins, not failed components. A specialist contact cleaner applied annually keeps Type 2 connectors reliable for 5+ years. Don't replace a pin if a clean fixes it.
Pairing
If you're building / repairing a cable, pair the connector with appropriate cable (4mm² for 32A continuous, 2.5mm² for 16A continuous). We stock raw EV-spec cable by the metre for serious installers — email trade@evcablehub.co.uk.
